Your wish is our command, Eileen!!

Hi folks,

Well work still getting in the way and as Eileen is fed up with "Mushrooms" I thought I had better console her and put up this one taken on Wednesday.

Ye old PS in all it's glory.

This is the most photographed wreck on the Medway according to Jean and I am inclined to agree. The wreck is of course the Waterloo which is opposite that Icon, the Power station on the Hoo side of the river.
I am always intrigued what is still on board.

This wreck has a very interesting hull with loads of rivets showing its' age. This close up was taken very close to the water line with the tide in. As you can see the hole in the side is oozing water and showing some rather nice rust colours as the tide comes in and out.

Last but not least is a close up of a duck, but I cheated here. Trev normally uses his long lens to capture them but I used part of the new display of animals newly erected by the path to the shoreline at Riverside,

Well as time is marching on I must quit and smarten myself up for an event tonight.

Up and down Daisy.

Hi folks,

Just a small blog today as I have been out and about working.

Took these with Sues' camera on Wednesday before going to pick up Trevor. Daisy was on the Trampoline again this time at the Riverside Country Park.

This second one tickled us as she is at the lowest point and her face has distorted with the force of gravity. She looks like an old woman with no teeth. (poor Daisy we love her really)

If you go down to the woods today....................

Hi folks,

Just to continue on a theme, Trev and I went to a woods near Ashford to explore the Area. It was a bit of a rush as there was not that much daylight even though the weather forecast was " wall to wall sunshine" plus by the time it was 4pm it is nearly dark. After dropping off Daisy at Nursery we headed for lunch, then off to the woods.

Hothfield Heathlands is situated on the A20 just outside Ashford on the way back to Maidstone, you cant miss it as there is a burger bar on the left hand the side of the road, turn into slip road and turn left, the car park is on the left.

Trevs blog gives a good account of our visit.

This is what I got..........................

The woods had large clearings and a lot of broken down trees and is a very large area to explore.

Needless to say we came across lots of this. The tree stumps made a breeding ground for Fungi.

 If you look a the base of the fungi in some of the shots you can see the dead remains of the last batch of life followed by the new.

This one is a good example of rotting Toadstools being consumed by the new growth.( the last one looks like a man with a large hat)

Silly trying to comment on each individual Fungi so all I really want is a Fairy and you to enjoy what we saw in this wonderful place. Trev and I have made a pact to go back for another visit.

Further Upchurch Adventures

We did so much at Upchurch that I shall carry on from yesterday.

I thought this was an unusual fungi on the side of a tree with another forming on the front.

This is the one I was taking a picture of in yesterdays' blog.

Silkie Chickens

Daisy was running round and round in a circle singing about monkeys and as she went past Sue was taking her picture.................. then.................all fall down.................., she picked herself up and looked at her muddy hand and carried on.

Ah a famous Rabbit hole for Daisy and Holly, although Holly would have a job getting down this hole.

Last but not least an unscathed Daisy wanting to go home. " Can we go home now please?"

Adventures around Upchurch

Another Tuesday with granddaughter Daisy but a dull, miserable, misty day, "oh dear".  Now, not to be outmanoeuvred by the weather we headed off with her and her new wellington boots on board to lunch at River Valley Golf Club in Upchurch.

After lunch on the way back to the car I took this of the carts and thought of Lewis Hamilton.

This made me chuckle.


Then it was off to the Barnyard next door and complete with the new blue pirate wellington boots (note this Daisy. Holly and Trevor, more pirates).  There were some donkeys first of all in their hut but they came out to see us, then there were the pigs :

One enormous pig was fast asleep by the wire and took exception to being woken up by another, poking and prodding his snout..  He made such a grumble that Daisy was frightened and started to cry, Sue explained that if her mummy tried to wake her up when she was fast asleep then she would grumble and say "Go away" - "Leave me alone" etc. etc. and that this is what the pig was doing in piggy language.  Being three and a bit, she understood and all was well.

There were not many animals about, the Not Not Neddys were down on the lower farm but these adorable donkeys even posed for us.

The next stage in our walk was through the apple orchard, most had been picked but still alot to see.

Trip to the Edith May

Hi folks,

Well it was Sunday and the weather was nice so, where do we go?  Well this time we had the coordinates of this fine barge so cameras at the ready, off we went. The object of the day was to have tea on board then meander up the Saxon Shore Way.

What a wonderful sight greeted us on our arrival, the vessel was in tip top condition from Bow to Stern, even more spectacles were to emerge when we climbed aboard, down the steep ladder we went into the bowels of this magnificent boat.

What greeted us was a unique galley and a lovely wood burning stove, just right on a cold autumn day.

Well it was time to order our tea and a scone.

I was fascinated by this lone picture of her pinned to the beans.

 On the way to the loo was a bench with Cups she had won.

Back to my seat I could see that she was filling up with customers.

Behind us or Aft was a quaint seating area which someone had reserved for lunch.

Suitability refreshed we clambered the steep stairs to the deck and looked across the Estuary on this fine, sunny Sunday.

Off we went on our walk around Saxon Shore Way, well that's another story for another day.

To end I wanted to put this one up of her in all her glory as the sun went down as we returned to the car.

She sails in the Summer so I would like to go on a trip, weather permitting.
