Happy Halloween

Hi folks,

The weather has been a bit sad here in the UK so thought I would put up a  Scary Witch as it is Halloween today. Have a good and safe evening.

Knee injury progressing and I have been told I should be better by Christmas.

Wisley Before The Rain

Hi folks,
last few of this venue before the sky turned grey and the rain came down.

Still in the glasshouse amongst the Cacti

Back at the entrance Palms on the right.

Going towards the cafe these unusual trees in the lawn.

After a drink and a chat, Chris who then stayed with me, we then sauntered into the woods.

Leaves were starting to go brown at the edges.

Bush showing off it's red autumn colours.

Final Dahlias before the frost.

Lastly the Canal and Loggia with walled garden leading back to the entrance as the rain began to fall, as you can see we were not the only ones beating a retreat.

That is all fro Wisley, hope to go again soon.

Welcome to Wisley

Hi folks,
back again after a period of wet weather here in the southeast and a struggle to be able to get about with the knee injury.
Today I had the opportunity to go to RHS Garden, Wisley for a day with some very kind friends, we set off around the M25 to this Horticultural Centre. On arrival we split up and I set off on my own with a wheelchair and camera bag to capture the event.  It was very busy as a lot of children were on leave from school with a teacher strike.

This cart display greeted me on arrival.

Autumn colours were starting on the lake.

This Taste of Autumn Festival event which started yesterday is on until the 20th October with lots of stalls and extra eating areas scattered about in the grounds.

Approaching the Glasshouse as the clouds started to roll in,  I entered and was amazed at the beautiful array of plants and trees, more on that in the next blog.

Thanks for joining me on my visit and thanks to Chris and Heather for taking me.

Best regards, Mike

Meet the Heron of Capstone

Hi folks,

well today I was fitted with a new leg brace which has changed my life.  I am now able to bend my right leg 40 degrees allowing me to replace the passenger seat in my wife's car and allow us to get out easier again.
So after the morning at the hospital Trevor and I went to Capstone Park which is local on a photo-shoot, it was nice to get into a standard car once more.

At the park we set up to get a few birds in the sunshine.

First we spotted the resident Grey Heron that seem to live by the lake all year.

Unusual front shot showing his plumage.

Also lots of Coots with there "bald" white heads.

Moorhens too with their red beaks.

With the telephoto I spied some Graylag Geese setting up home on the waters edge.

Finally the inevitable signs of Autumn.

Really nice to get out in the sunshine and a big thanks to Trevor a true friend and fellow photographer. After my fall with the camera bag on my shoulder the only damage was a broken lens cap, all the lenses performed as they should so I got away lightly.

Thanks for looking.

Best regards, Mike

Horses!

Hi folks,

sorry to have missed you yesterday but I was a bit down after hearing of a delay to see the surgeon to get my splint removed, after being a bit assertive a can report that I am going next Monday.

As I an not sleeping too well and being up half the night I thought about sorting out some images from 2005 near Christmas, I hope you like them. Note the frost on the ground.

There you are, taken with my old Nikon D300 on the outskirts of Bearstead, Kent.

Thanks for looking.

Best regards, Mike
