This is the final part of my trip to the park to check up on the birds.
This White Fronted Goose was rooting around in the snow by the state of his beak.
Here are the other two plodding around.
This Moorhen was looking at the ice trying to peck it's way through.
Our resident mate the Heron returned from the island to get some food.
But I told him I only had a camera so...
Off he flew back to the island no to happy.
What's this in the mud, food?
The lake was quite thick with ice in places with these branches well and truly stuck in the ice.
Normally a Coot would splash along the water at a great break neck speed, today his feet were stuck firmly to the ice.
Most of the Coots and Moorhens were out of the water and in the bushes by the lake hunting for scraps. Finally a shot across the bridge with a empty children' s play area in the distance.
Crikey it does make you feel cold just looking at the pictures, roll on Summer.
Thanks for looking.

Lovely to see you have befriended the Heron, he must love having his photo taken. It looks very very cold but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe Grey Heron in flight you caught him well. I have not seen a heron down there yet Mike.
ReplyDeleteI thought that it looked very cold there
Well done.
Wild life is so precious, we tend to take it for granted, until you actual stop and look you then realise it true beauty
