Meet the Heron of Capstone

Hi folks,

well today I was fitted with a new leg brace which has changed my life.  I am now able to bend my right leg 40 degrees allowing me to replace the passenger seat in my wife's car and allow us to get out easier again.
So after the morning at the hospital Trevor and I went to Capstone Park which is local on a photo-shoot, it was nice to get into a standard car once more.

At the park we set up to get a few birds in the sunshine.

First we spotted the resident Grey Heron that seem to live by the lake all year.

Unusual front shot showing his plumage.

Also lots of Coots with there "bald" white heads.

Moorhens too with their red beaks.

With the telephoto I spied some Graylag Geese setting up home on the waters edge.

Finally the inevitable signs of Autumn.

Really nice to get out in the sunshine and a big thanks to Trevor a true friend and fellow photographer. After my fall with the camera bag on my shoulder the only damage was a broken lens cap, all the lenses performed as they should so I got away lightly.

Thanks for looking.

Best regards, Mike

  5. Good shots of the Heron! Now, how about photographing a Tick? Now that you can bend your leg a bit, getting down to these Ticky critters should be a doddle!

  9. Hi Chris, yes I am ok, I have to rely on others to ferry me about. Getting tied of this brace and it seems to be going on till Christmas. No money earnt, van off the road, car tax given in so all in all a bit sad that this has all been forced onto me.

    Best regards, Mike XXX

  10. I know how difficult this is for you and Sue.........We had the same misfortune last winter, when Dave snapped his tendon and it was weeks before he could get mobile again ! I remember going to visit my grandchildren on the bus with snow everywhere, so I know how you feel........But time does pass and it really does make you appreciate the things we take for granted ! Be kind to yourself and focus on something thats exciting like planning next years getaway to take your mind of it !
    stay focused Mike....take care,
