Corfe Castle, my view

Hi folks,
busy day today and a bit tired but thought I would show Corfe Castle from my angle.

We arrived at the campsite as I set off to photograph the castle in the evening light

Normal shot from the base of the castle at ground level, taken on route from the campsite about a mile away. The hill I climbed is in the foreground.

At the site there are three mounds in a row so I thought if I climbed the first one I would get a straight on view of the castle, this shot is a third of the way up,

At the top you can see the whole castle.

Winnie on the Water!

Hi folks,

after the New Forest we continued down towards the sea and into Dorset parking up at the unique beach location which reminded us of America.

After parking Winnie up we went for a stroll along the Promenade although a bit breezy and cold the sun was shining.

Parking was expensive but at least our little van could get in a standard parking spot.

We then queued up and paid £3.50 for a short trip to Swanage.

Sue kept a check on the van whilst I........................

........ran up stairs to get this shot of Winnie on the Ferry

Once back on land we headed towards Corfe Castle.

New Forest and the Ponies

Hi folks,
back to last weeks holiday and we dropped south from Henley to the New Forest and stayed at a great site at the very top called Greenhill Farm, Landford nr. Salisbury .

The pitch was on a slope so I had to deploy the ramps.

Looking across the lake used for fishing.

What we came to see, the Ponies as we entered the New Forest by the road.

Sorry this one is a bit rude but I loved the tail position.

We stopped for lunch which is very easy in a Mobile home. Looked out the window and had to rattle off a few shots of these.

This one had been rolling about.

Blossom at Last!

Hi folks,

just spent a couple of days at a wonderful campsite in Headcorn, Kent with a dear friend who is just getting used to a replacement Motorhome so we thought we would have a try out at this site that we visited at Easter.  As we arrived the blossom on the trees was outstanding although the owner Barry said that they were all behind due to the weather and it being so cold and windy on the site.

The first view is of the entrance to the field, you can just spot a couple of vans behind.

Here we are, we were not the only ones on the site, there was a tent  (brave pair) and two other Motorhomes keeping us company. The rear van in the picture is our good friend Adrianne's and our Winnie is in the front.

On Sunday, the day after we arrived the weather was sunny and I took the opportunity to get some shots of the blossom.

Finally a loan wasp, it was a shame re the lack of Bees about, still at least the sun was shining.

Back home and the rain is back, still I hope these cheered you up.

Whitchurch- on-Thames

Hi folks,

after Goring we set off again along the river to Whitchurch and parked up Winnie at the Dolphin Canoe Centre next to the river.

After walking through the gate we came across the Thames and the Canoe launching strip.

Across the bridge we found St Mary's Church and ventured inside.

This is a medieval Church of Anglo-Saxon origin with wonderful stained glass windows in a very dimly lit church.

Back outside in the sunshine we walked to the river and looked back on the church spire in the distance.

Even though it was the last week in April Daffodils were still popping up in abundance.

Back to the bridge we investigated the toll which to this day help to maintain this bridge over the Thames.

Goring on Thames

Hi folks,

continuing on with our holiday our next stop was this Weir and Lock over the Thames. The sun was out so it was a golden opportunity to get some shots.
The road bridge was the one we had just crossed, we parked up and walked along the tow path towards the Weir.

From the road bridge we had full view of the Weir and the conditions were perfect for a few pictures.

Close up of the river which was running quite fast.

To the right hand side this thatched riverside boathouse came into view.

Finally the local Church nearly obscured from view by the trees.

Tudor Donkey Wheel !

Hi folks,

just a rider to Greys Court blog I thought you would like to see the Wheel that the Donkey used in the 14th century to raise the water from the well, I think it would be frowned upon today.

The pictures were taken in very low light with unwanted light streaming in from all the wrong places.

What a poor life for the donkey! You can see the bucket at the top of it's travel.
