UP NORTH with Sue and Winnie #16, Glorious Sandyhill

Hi folks,
you are in for a real treat after the last blog, remember we said when the tide is right we would go along the beach. Well in the morning we did that and what was around that corner you remember was a different world. I cant say any more but after this we fell in love with Scotland even though we had not been for a while...................................enjoy.

Well, there you are, just a note, the only place I could get a mobile signal was on that white piece of cement in the middle foreground  of the last picture.
The beach was so quite all you could here was the occasional seagull.
Needless to say, we had a fantastic day on the beach and the weather was fantastic. Don't know how to follow this but we shall see. Thanks for looking, Mike

Up North with Sue and Winnie #15 on to Sandyhills

Hi folks,

The last blog showed Burgh by Sands, well here we are on the other side of the Solway Firth looking towards it from Bonny Scotland. Look closely and you can see the Lake District in the distance.

First one of our Winnie in Scotland as we stopped in a layby for the first picture, she certainly did us proud without a memour on the way up country.

Later in the day we arrived at our campsite Sandyhills, it was a lovely site and the fire point tickled us with all its foliage which was on the turn even in early October.

Setting up with the luxury of power again although to be honest we didn't need it. Just a note to campers although we looked close together we still had the required space.

After a drink we set off to explore the shoreline before dinner and another look before night fell.

What's around the coast line although we had to watch the tides so after looking at an app on the phone we decided to leave it until the morning and went back to Winnie for a relaxing evening.

The next blog we go around the coast line to explore. Thanks for looking Mike

UP NORTH with Sue and Winnie #14, and a bit of Kite Flying.

Hi folks,
back of the trail again and out to the marshes at Burgh by Sands (pronounced brouf) to do a bit of kite flying with our old friend Graham, Sue very wisely stayed in their house down the road with her iPad and Trisha, Grahams wife was at work. We were blessed with lovely weather and overlooked the Soleway Firth.

You can see Scotland across the water.

Looking back towards the house you can see how it floods although being on the marshes they got away lightly the last year.

There you are, still got it after all this time.

I made him laugh as I stepped back over a clump of grass and fell very slowly to the ground whilst keeping hold of the kite.

Graham then had a go.

One of the Kent Kite Flyers signature kites that we fly all over the place, called a Flowform.

As it started to get late we packed up and headed back to the house. See the mountains of Scotland in the distance, that was our next port of call.

Lastly in the evening we all had a great meal in the local pub.

Next blog we will be in Scotland, thanks for tagging along, Mike

Autumn Walk in Queensdown Warren Kent

Hi folks.
Welcome to our walk in the woods on this fine autumnal day.

Across the road across the road and into the woods with leaves everywhere.

The lodge at the end of the lane.

Yaugher Manor all on its own on the North Downs. 1566 is on the porch.

The Major that owned the property was not keen on it being situated at the bottom of the valley. He had it dismantled and moved in 1841 to where it stands today, at the top of the hill. It is Tudor in style and construction.

Three views of the woods whilst we looked for Fungi.

Spot the sipder on the leaf.

A lone Magpie Inkcap, about to melt.

Could be a Two-toned Wood-tuft if my book is correct.

Glad you joined me on our woodland jaunt. All the best, Mike
