The Shard

Hi folks,

As you may be aware, I attended Guys Hospital in London on Tuesday and after my appointment we looked up in amazement at the Shard a massive building being built literally on top of London Bridge station.

This is the view of it as we left Guys hospital, it was a very grey day with only a hint of sunshine late afternoon.
This crane is perched  two thirds of the way up the tower with the external lift running up the outside carrying workers and building materials.
External lift going up the side.
Look at the link to explain it's purpose

As I will be going back a few times I thought I could keep you up to date with it's progress.
Still to come, Southwark Cathedral in it's splender.
Thanks for looking.

nite nite, luv Mike XX

  4. Thanks for all the comments.

@ Trev, the surrounding area is changing fast as well, I was amazed at the new buildings and the way London is changing.

@ Eileen, yes I will be going up there at least twice again and after watching the restoration programme on the Cutty Sark tonight, a few more times.

I hope the link to the Shard worked as it is quite fascinating.
