London the Conclusion

Hi folk.
Just to finish my London trip, I was intrigued by the three metal plaques at the entrance to Guys hospital by London Bridge Station.

This panel represents giving by visitors.
The patient has received so many grapes that they have taken root in his bedside cabinet.

This represents how staff give to the hospital.
The hands represent the care shown by nurses and doctors and form the pulse of hospital life.  The hourglass stands for the time people give, whilst the book signifies medical knowledge and the microscope, scientific endeavour.  The pestle and mortar are the for preparing medicine using the herbs Rosemary, Thyme and Basil, which fill in the panel.

This panes represents Thomas Guy's generosity.
Sir Thomas Guy paid for the building of the original hospital and left an endowment.  He is shown giving the plans for the new hospital.

Finally one that I missed yesterday showing the ceiling above the Altar in the Southwark Cathedral.

Thanks for looking.

nite nite, luv  Mike xx
